Anacortes artist LeAnn Adams is the 2008 Arts Festival Poster Artist. Her piece titled "A Perfect Day" depicts her idea of a perfect day at the Festival. "The sun would be out warming up the day, the sky would be a brilliant blue. The streets would be alive with artisans displaying their wares. Music and colors would weave in and out of the festivities, making a wonderful happy atmosphere for all." LeAnn grew up always painting, drawing and doing crafts. It wasn't until about 5 years ago, through the encouragement of friends and family that she decided to sell her work professionally. Adams work is represented at Insights Gallery in Anacortes. Described at times as "natural" and "primative" her work has a definite (Australian) aboriginal influence. Through repeated use of pattern and texture her work connects the viewer directly and personally. Her sense of form and color transform the way the audience sees familiar images. |
