Celebrating Culture & Youth Creativity
Celebrate Día de los Muertos in downtown Anacortes from October 28 through November 9!
The Anacortes Arts Festival and Anacortes Schools Foundation partnered with a guest artist to introduce local students to the traditions and symbolism of Día de los Muertos through hands-on artmaking. Students created traditional cempasúchil (marigold) garlands, decorative skull artwork, and ofrendas (altars) honoring loved ones and celebrating this rich cultural tradition.
The project comes to life downtown as local businesses display student-created ofrendas and artwork in their storefront windows. Take a stroll through downtown Anacortes to experience this colorful celebration of cultural heritage, student creativity, and community connection.
