Tracy Powell
This will be the second year for our Artist to Artist Award. This award invites a prominent artist who has made outstanding contributions to the community, to pay it forward by selecting and presenting a $1,000 Festival award to one of our Juried Artists.
Stone Sculptor Tracy Powell will be our Presenting Artist this year. Tracy has had a long successful career as a sculptor with numerous pieces in public art collections throughout Skagit County and the broader region. One of his most well-known pieces, the Maiden of Deception Pass Totem at Rosario Beach, was carved in 1981 from a single piece of cedar. Since that time, his medium of choice has been stone. He is a dedicated advocate of peace, love and mother earth – and the subject of his work often reflects those values through human and animal form. He has participated in the Festival Working Artist Area – and been accepted many times into the Juried Fine Art Show. Ever generous with his time and his art, we recognize Tracy Powell’s success as an artist, as well as his kindness and giving spirit.
