Tradition Continues in Anacortes

From the enduring legacy of Smith & Vallee’s beloved Bird Invitational rises a new chapter. The Anacortes Arts Festival proudly presents the Skagit Valley Bird Show, an exhibition that celebrates flight and feather, movement and stillness, and the deep connection between art and the natural world.

Though the venue and host have changed, the spirit of the Bird Show remains—carried forward by a community that has long found inspiration in the wings overhead and the landscapes below.

Featuring over 130 bird-inspired works by more than 130 artists, the exhibition unfolds as a visual chorus of paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media creations. Each piece offers a distinct voice, honoring the Skagit Valley’s rich birding heritage and the quiet power of the natural beauty that surrounds it.

This is an invitation to linger—to recognize familiar forms rendered anew, and to experience how nature, art, and community take flight together.
